History
Unfortunately, we weren’t able to find much information about this ruin.
Located in county Armagh, close to the small village of Madden, near Hanslough Lake, it stands on a rocky outcrop but only the west wall, three stories high, remains [1]. Perhaps, what we can see today was part of a bawn built by the O'Neill family, which might have included a moat [2].

Tips
When you are passionate about history, you might find yourself roaming in County Armagh at the sunrise on a freezing January day, looking for castles. This is how we found this ruin: after a long drive from Limerick to Dublin airport, where we dropped off some friends, not tired and not willing to go back, we decided to move to the North, to County Armagh.
While driving through Drumhillery road, we noticed Hanslough Lake, looking as a perfect mirror in the winter frost. Soon after, slightly covered by bare trees, we got very excited to spot this ruin and immediately pulled over, beside the gate of a farm. There was no traffic at that time of the day, which helped our visit. The remains of Creevekeeran castle are on a private property and jumping the fence might be tricky in this case (although not a mission impossible 😉). Fortunately, the ruin is perfectly visible from the road and you can easily take some nice pictures from there, with the lake in the background.
